by Trevor Noah
5/5
Spiegel & Grau 304 pages November 15, 2016
Trevor Noah tells the story of growing up mixed-race in South Africa during and after apartheid, where his very existence was literally a crime. Equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking, it's a coming-of-age story unlike any other.

Jim's Review
🐛
Jim laughed, Jim cried, Jim did both at the same time — which is tricky for a worm with no tear ducts. Trevor Noah's childhood stories are absolutely wild, and he tells them with a comedian's timing and a poet's soul. The chapter about his mother is one of the most powerful things Jim has ever burrowed through. Do yourself a favor and get the audiobook too — Noah narrates it himself and it's pure gold.
