Short Books for Stocking Stuffers

Small books with big reputations: classics, wisdom and fast fiction mostly under 250 pages that fit in a stocking and get read before New Year's.

A stocking-stuffer book has two jobs: fit in the stocking and actually get read. Every pick here is short (most under 250 pages, several under 150) and a widely loved classic or modern favorite.

There's a mix of quick fiction, philosophy for the new year and a couple of laugh-out-loud picks, so you can match the book to the person.
