In the house of Helios, god of the sun, a daughter is born — but Circe is a strange child, not powerful like her father nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers a power forbidden to the gods: witchcraft. Zeus banishes her to a deserted island, where she hones her craft and encounters legends of mythology.

Jim's Review

🐛
Madeline Miller took Greek mythology and made it feel things you wouldn't think a worm could feel. Circe is fierce, flawed, and utterly magnificent. It's a book for burrowing into your favorite blanket and being transported to ancient Greece. The prose is so lush it practically glows. If you ever wanted to root for a witch turning men into pigs, this is your book — and Jim is here for it.
